Time just flew by, it seems. Tomorrow night is the opening night for another great group exhibition called Sweet Dreams and Candy Coated Nightmares held at The Freedom Factory Gallery, in downtown Toronto. This show runs from October 25th-31st and is basically Halloween themed! I love the dark and spooky, I was so excited to hear about the opportunity to share some of my creepy art, I just had to take part in this exhibition! I will have 4 pieces on display and for sale, both watercolour & collage :) Tomorrow is the opening night! 7PM doors open, there will be live performances and of course, ART!!!

Gallery Stuff

In my last update I failed to mention some pretty important stuff. Silly me :P

I have been lucky enough to participate in a couple group gallery exhibitions! The Freedom Factory is an awesome multifunctional space, just off Queen West on Dovercourt, in downtown Toronto. Their gallery had a 1 year Anniversary Show for the month of September. I was accepted to take part and displayed a cute couple of balloon faces :)

The last week of September my first exhibit was over and my second was about to start!

The Super Wonder Gallery held The Upstart Exhibition for new and emerging visual artist to showcase their artwork and gain exposure. The opening night was a hit, so many people came out to show their support & love for art. I was so happy to see one of my pieces Chloe had already sold from the day before the opening!

UPDATE: it's been too long!

It has been 1.5 years or so since my last blog post! I have been known to go MIA with the blogging at times, I hope to changed that now. I’ll fill you in on whats transpired during that time..

I opened up an Etsy Shop!

Had my fist little gallery show.

My laptop broke :( (hence the no posting)

Sold art at last years Cabbagetown Festival.

Took down my Etsy shop because..

I travelled to 15 countries for 7 months! at the beginning of 2018

Started collaging with found images I picked up in Japan & Vancouver. Here are a couple Renaissance Reptilian Shapeshifters

Moving Pictures

I'm so excited to be able to share this awesome video with you all.

A huge thanks goes out to the talented Jenny, from, who created this amazing video for me 😍 ❤ I absolutely love it!

If you are reading this, you likely already know I have loved art my entire life. I have been sharing, giving and of course selling my paintings for the past few years. I decided to pursue my passion for creating much more this year. I have created a new Instagram account to be a sort of mini gallery where I can share newer works with you. I will be posting various collections and also my collage work. Stop by my new page @chanelmarkusart and follow my artwork for some creativity on your feed ☺

A look inside

A good friend of mine, Katie, bought a painting of mine titled 'Alien' a while back. It’s now framed and residing in her beautiful downtown condo. She shared some images with me and I loved seeing how she made my art work in her space. So I thought I would share with you!

I hope to see more pictures of my works in their new habitats. I am also hoping to update and expand my website to be able to share these images with you. If you happen to have any of my artwork please send me a picture of your piece in your special space for me to share.

The Wandering Eye...

My friend Heather has recently opened up her very own shop in Hamilton, Ontario. The Wandering Eye sells vintage clothing, accessories, shoes and artwork! Heather and I both have our artwork for sale in her cute little store :) If you live or wind up in Hamilton be sure to check it out! You can find it at 3 Colbounre St. inside 'Shine' off James St. North. You can also follow the shop on Instagram @wanderingeyeshop

Painting for Sick Kids

"Hey Chanel!!!!! i was hoping/wanted to see if you were willing to make a charitable donation in honour of a a very good friend of mine who passed away. There is a huge event being held for him and another friend of his on December 28th"

In the holiday spirit, we will also be donating 100% of the proceeds from this event to Friends Of Music Therapy, which is a really great independent charity that helps terminally ill children at Toronto Sick Kids Hospital gain access to musical instruments and recording gear so that they can express themselves musically.

I'll keep this short and sweet

I am so happy to have my site up and running to be able to share my art with you! With the help of some creative friends, I have been able to sell some of my original paintings at Lustre Boutique in Montreal. I hope to be able to make my art more accessible and hopefully open up an online shop. Until then you can head to Montreal or just send me an email :) This is just the beginning...
